About Janet M. Herman

Janet M. Herman is a licensed mental health counselor in the state of New York.
She obtained her BSW, M.Ed., and Ed.S. at Kent State University. She has done post graduate work at the University of Akron, and spent six years doing specialty training in Albuquerque, NM at Southwest Counseling and Human Development Services.
In private practice since 1981, having served as Executive Director of a Family Service Agency and years of experience in hospital and agency settings, Janet Herman brings a wealth of experience.
Janet Herman served as adjunct faculty at Buffalo State College for twelve years teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses, as well as teaching at Niagara University and D'youville College.
She is a past president of The American Mental Health Counselors Association.
In 1988, she was named National Counselor of the year by the American Mental Health Counselors Association.
She is often sought out for opinions and is quoted in publications like: The Buffalo News, USA Today, Self Magazine, as well as radio and TV.
Janet Herman is certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors, and the Academy of Clinical Mental Health Counselors. She is also a certified Clinical Supervisor.
